Amiga President, Jim Collas has announced in his monthly speech that they have indeed selected the CPU for the Amiga NG, revealing that he plans “to disclose the CPU in several weeks at the World of Amiga and AmiWest shows” on the 24th of July.
Jim Collas attempts in his latest speech to clarify misunderstandings that the Amiga Community may have about Amiga's product plans, and what Amiga mean by the term "operating environment”. He also reveals that in the next few days Amiga is to release “a five to seven page product strategy and technology brief” as Jim Collas said “to better understand our overall plans by giving you more details on our new Amiga Operating Environment (OE) and Multimedia Convergence Computer (MCC)”.
Amiga President, Jim Collas also stated Amiga's product implementation strategy; that “the new Amiga is to integrate the best technology in the industry into a new, efficient, exciting, and revolutionary computer platform focused on the future”.
He also mentioned “an object-oriented technology developed by Amiga called the AmigaObjectTM”, explaining that it is “a powerful software structure that enables easy integration of technology, distributed computing, high-speed network transactions, and communication between applications. They are also powerful software building blocks that will allow people to build impressive applications quickly”.
Jim Collas, summed up by expressing his hopes that the technology brief “will go a long way in helping you understand Amiga's future and the new products”.
