The Next Generation In Amiga Gaming
*

Even though there's plenty of life left in the current line of Amiga's, this week's news emphasizes perfectly the change that is coming about in the Amiga Market. It's been what I would call a 'quiet revolution', games developers, publishers, and even magazines are getting ready for the Amiga NG.

For games developers it's a time to prepare for the Next Generation in Amiga Gaming and many of them have become to develop for the Amiga NG, although mostly in the design stages. The aim as ever will be to create innovative and original games to drive the Amiga NG to its limits. I found out about quite a number of games that are in development for the Amiga NG, but I firmly believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg, many games developers are keeping their developments quiet. Over the next few months we will hear more announcements about Amiga NG games. For the meantime, the Future Game CD-Rom Releases section has been closed with nearly every game CD only it seems only sensible to bring that section an end, and to replace it is a brand new section called Future Amiga NG Game Releases.

For the 'big' publishers, who are actively watching from the sidelines its time to consider whether to support the Amiga NG. Some are watching the Amiga very carefully, for those who take the chance and go for it now could reap the rewards. Think about it, the first games bought by Amiga NG Gamers will be the ones available and of course, there won't be big selection to start with. I've been in contact with two pc games companies and they have shown a keen interest.

Amigactive is another prime example of a magazine publisher recognising that its time to get a foothold in the Amiga Market and so be ready for the surge of new readers the Amiga NG will bring. Perhaps in time, there will be even more, but Amigactive will have established themselves by then.

It is still a long time yet to the Christmas release of the Amiga NG, but already the first preparations are under way to make the Amiga NG a success.

If any pc or mac games developers and publishers are interested in supporting the current line of Amiga's or the Amiga NG, then e-mail Philip Cosby of Amiga Flame and I'll get you in contact with the right people:-
