Alive MediaSoft have released an extensive details of the features in Phoenix Fighters, an overhead shoot'em up.

Phoenix Fighters boasts many different kinds of gameplay such as One Player Missions: Variation of themes and objectives with Hidden bonus objects to be found. Missions are played with the cash and equipment from your last mission. Password given on every third mission. Two Player Missions: Missions as above but requires two co-operating players. Gate Races: Fly the race-track in the shortest time possible, passing all gates in order. Three difficulties. Fight for at place in the hall of fame (one player mode) or to beat your opponent (two player mode). Gem Races: Race as above, but the aim is to collect all gems a quick as possible. Dog Fight: The mode that really tests your skills. Fight against your friend to be the one that lasts the longest. Survival of the fittest are true indeed, so plan your choice of ships, weapons and equipment well, and go for the valuable gems to gain cash. A single well aimed shot could damage your ship so severely that you will be glad if you make it back to the base for repairs. The Dog Fight mode is configurable in aspects of starting cash, number of ships and more.

There are around 200 levels divided up into: 80 one player missions, 50 two player missions, 20 gate races, 20 gem races, and 40 dog fight levels.

Phoenix Fighters features fast action running at 50 frames per second with large levels and with more than 128 colours on screen. You'll have over 20 different ships to use all with individual characteristics along with 15 weapons to choose from, including high explosive weapons. You can further upgrade your ship by docking at your base at any time to buy, sell and repair weapons, equipment and new ships. It will include doors, some opening for a specific player, one-way doors, and force field doors, teleporters, for quick transfer between different places in the level, walls which you can blast your way through or special walls that reflect shots. The enemies have individual energy shields and weapons and there is the Virus, obstacles growing and growing in size until you destroy its source.

Phoenix Fighters will require at least an 020 processor, and 1MB Ram. Phoenix Fighters will soon be released by Alive MediaSoft at the price of �14.99 UK Pounds.
